about

This song is about George L. Stathakis, a man who tried to go over Niagara Falls in a large barrel that he'd prepared for the occasion.

He claimed to have built a perfect protective structure; at 10 feet long and 5 feet in diameter, it weighed about a ton. Dubbed the "Stathakis Death Barrel," its name turned out to be tragically predictive.

With his turtle, Sonny, George went over the waterfall and survived the plummet. However, his barrel was trapped behind the falls, as it was much too heavy. Stuck underwater for more than 20 hours, Stathakis suffocated while rescue teams tried and failed to reach him.

His turtle survived, however. This song's as much about the turtle as the daredevil. We wrote it from the point of view of George Stathakis as he talks to himself and his turtle in preparation for his trip.

So anyways, we really hope you dig it. Please feel free to share, download, and spread the music in any way you'd like.

lyrics

Lyrics:

You don't need to worry
We planned every part of the ride
You don't need to hurry,
We've got nothing but time

You don't need to think about
Everything that could go wrong,
We're going over now,
The turtle will go on

We won't be waiting
We won't be waiting too long
We won't be waiting so please try to be patient for a while

Rocks hammer into the side
I am immune
I am along for the ride

Just me and Sonny,
American steel by the ton
If I don't make it out,
The turtle will go on

And when they come for me we will be raised upon the shoulders of a thousand strong Canadians
And we will never fade
I say to you that this is how a man is made
This is how a man is made
